What is a tiffin you may ask. Well, according to the Oxford Living Dictionaries it is “A set of shallow metal food containers which sit on top of each other inside a hinged metal frame fastened by a clasp.”

I was a bit nervous about dining at Tiffins, an adventurous eater, I am not. Looking at the menu before my trip I wasn’t sure if my decision to dine there would prove to be a good one, but oh how wrong was I.
A few of my fellow Travel Agents and I dined at Tiffins on our last night of our recent trip. It was the perfect ending to an amazing weekend.
The restaurant is BEAUTIFUL. No other way to describe it. Such detail.
Let’s start with the dinner menu. For me, it’s exotic. I’m a meat and potatoes kind of gal. We’d had a large brunch at Narcoosee’s, a review of that will be coming up soon, so I decided I’d try a couple of appetizers at Tiffins since I wasn’t sure about ordering an entree. And let’s be honest, this isn’t cheap. My choices were the Marinated Grilled Octopus and the Flash-fried Icy Blue Mussels, neither of which I’d ever tasted.
I must have really been enjoying my meal as I seem to have failed to take a picture of the Mussels. 🙂
Pictured above are an Anapura Zing, the grilled octopus, and for dessert, the South American Chocolate Ganache.
My table mates were awesome and shared several of their appetizers and entrees so that we could all get a taste. I would highly recommend trying the Tiffins Signature Bread Service, definitely not the bread service at Sanaa, but delicious none the less.
The restaurant’s decor is amazing. We wandered a bit after our meal as we were there at closing and most of the other dining rooms were empty.
We also were able to take a peak over in the Nomad Lounge. I can’t wait to experience that on my next trip. It’s beautiful with several areas to relax, have a drink and enjoy the scenery both inside and out.
The Lounge does have a separate menu from Tiffins.
It was a wonderful dinner with great friends. A big thank you to Anne Densk for making the reservation and inviting me along. It was an enjoyable evening with friends and good food. I highly recommend that you take the time to stop in to the Nomad Lounge on your next trip and make a reservation for Tiffins as well, even if you think it’s not for you. Give it a try. I’m so glad I did!

PS – Get the Ethiopian Press Pot coffee with your dessert. It’s the best coffee I’ve ever had in my life!
