My San Francisco Adventure – Day 2 Part 1

On the second day of our adventure my husband headed to Fisherman’s Wharf to catch the ferry to Alcatraz.  I’ll write up a separate post with his input and photographs of the experience.

For me the second day was the day of my Adventures by Disney tour.  The agents all met with our guides in the lounge of the Omni San Francisco Hotel, the host hotel for the San Francisco Long Weekend tour.  Our guides, Greg and Steph were amazing.  Right from the get go I felt welcomed and excited for our time together.

We were each given lanyards with our names and we went over the schedule for the day.  This Adventure was a bit different as it’s geared towards travel agents to give them a taste of what a client would experience.  Our day was a made up of part of the Day 1 itinerary and part of the Day 3 itinerary.

We had the choice of taking a motor coach to see some sites around San Francisco or taking the bike ride along the bay to Fort Point at the Golden Gate Bridge.  I chose to take the bike ride and I’m so glad I did.

The tour began at Blazing Saddles. So many bicycles!  We were each fitted with a helmet, a bike and even had a short test ride inside the shop.  After we were all ready we headed down the hill to start our ride to the first stop at the Maritime Museum.

I have to admit that riding a bicycle in an unfamiliar place, with strangers was intimidating but also so much fun!!!

Our bike ride took us along the Bay towards the bridge.  The scenery was amazing.

We made a stop at the Palace of Fine Arts, the only remaining “Palace” from the 1915 Pan Pacific International Exposition.  It’s shape is also thought to have been the inspiration for a certain droid in a very popular movie.

After our stop we carried on to our destination, the Golden Gate Bridge.  I have to admit as we were pedaling up the path I had tears in my eyes. The bridge is just breathtaking.

Next up is a fabulous lunch at M.Y. China and a trip across the bridge!

Stay tuned…….
