Mother and Son Trip to Universal Orlando Resort – Spring Break 2018

My son and I recently took a short vacation to enjoy Universal Orlando Resort.  This was our first onsite stay and my son’s first visit to the Parks.  We stayed at Loews Royal Pacific Resort which is on Universal Orlando Resort property.  It’s a beautiful resort with amazing rooms and amenities.  Since we were only there for a short stay, we sadly didn’t get to enjoy the resort to it’s full potential.  Hopefully we’ll be back soon to take advantage of the pool and onsite restaurants.

We each had 3 Day Park to Park tickets and since we were guests at Loews Royal Pacific Resort we also had the Express Pass automatically added to our tickets.  There are currently three onsite resorts that include Express Pass for your length of ticket when staying at the resorts – Loews Royal Pacific Resort, Loews Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando and the Hard Rock Hotel Universal Orlando.

Our Resort was in walking distance to CityWalk and there was a security entrance right at the entrance which allowed easy entry.  It was a short 5-7 minute walk from our Resort room to the entrance which made taking rests during the day easy.

We really enjoyed both parks but found Universal Studios to be our favorite.  Diagon Alley is amazing and so detailed.  We did take the Hogwart’s Express train between the two parks.  It is necessary to have the Park to Park ticket in order to ride the train so keep that in mind when planning.

The restaurants at CityWalk were very convenient as well. We dined at both The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen and NBC Sports Grill & Brew.  Both were wonderful.  Toothsome’s was delicious and I would highly recommend it.  There is normally a wait time, we waited approximately 35 minutes, but wait times can be much higher.

I would recommend Universal Orlando Resort to families with teenagers, young adults and couples.  While there are some rides for younger children, many of the rides have height requirements.  The Harry Potter areas of both parks would be great for any age.

Contact me for information on booking vacation packages or purchasing tickets to the Parks.
