During my visit in January 2018, I was able to attend the Disney After Hours at Magic Kingdom Park Event. This event will once again be offered for multiple dates in the summer of 2018 so I thought I’d take a moment and give you a little insight into what I experienced.
I purchased our tickets prior to our trip to ensure that we didn’t encounter a sell out. As an Annual Passholder I was able to purchase our tickets at a discount as Walt Disney World and Disney Vacation Club Members can purchase discounted tickets.
During our visit the Event time was 9pm to 12am, with entry to the park allowed at 7pm. You do not need a separate park ticket as your Event ticket serves as your ticket into the park between the Event hours.
We entered the park around 5:30pm and were able to obtain our lanyards, in the picture above, upon entry. This lanyard is your “credential” for the Event. After riding a few rides and taking in Happily Ever After, the Event started and we were off!

This photo, one of my favorites, is a good example of how empty the park was during Disney After Hours.
We rode the Tea Cups with only one other party in a cup, followed by Dumbo, Barnstomer and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin.
All of these were with NO WAIT!

This was the “crowd”. While some areas did seem more crowded than others Magic Kingdom definitely had an empty feeling, and it was AMAZING!
One of the perks of Disney After Hours at Magic Kingdom Park are the snacks, and I mean all the snacks! We were able to have as many soft drinks, Mickey ice cream bars, frozen bananas, and other frozen treats plus as much popcorn as we wanted. So good and so fun!

A few more “empty park” photos.
We rode Big Thunder Mountain a couple of times as it’s my favorite and best ridden at night in my opinion, took a flight with Peter Pan and rode the carousel. It was probably one of the most leisurely nights I’ve ever had at a Disney Park.
While it’s definitely not cheap, I think it’s a great option for those that want that extra special park time or who maybe are only in town for a convention or just have one night to spare to visit the park.
Thanks for reading and I hope you get to experience the Magic Kingdom soon!
