If you’ve been to Walt Disney World and stayed on property at a Disney Resort in the past few years prior to 2021, you are probably familiar with Disney’s MagicBand. MagicBands are your key to your room, used for entry into the parks, charging privileges and when they were available, your tap into Fastpass+. The MagicBand had been complimentary as part of your Resort reservation.
As of 2021 the MagicBands are no longer complimentary, but in my opinion still a time saver and fun!
You can order MagicBands through your My Disney Experience account after your Walt Disney World Resort Package or Room Only reservation has been linked to your account. The MagicBands available for purchase through your My Disney Experience account are offered at a reduced price with bands starting as low as $10.00. I think the Magic Bands are a fun and easy way to have your ticket available and easy to use for making purchases while showing off your favorite colors, characters or park icons.
While some colors and patterns may be available at different times these are the solid colors often available.
If you aren’t booking a Walt Disney World Resort package or a Room Only reservation at a Disney Resort, you can still MagicBands separately online at shopDisney.
After Disney made the change making MagicBands available only by purchase, they did bring back the “Key to the World” card. Prior to MagicBands you received a Key to the World card upon checkin at your Disney Resort and the card acted just as the MagicBand does now. To make things more interesting they brought back the cards in different colors with characters.
If you decide not to purchase a MagicBand prior to your trip you can pick up one of these cards at the Front Desk. This option is a little more cumbersome in my opinion as you’ll need to keep track of the card but a lanyard would easily work for that.
Recently Walt Disney World announced Disney Mobile Magic. It allows you to use your iPhone, Apple Watch and Google Pay enabled Android devices as you would a MagicBand. You can access Disney Mobile Magic through your My Disney Experience account.
While MagicBands are no long complimentary, I believe they are the easiest way to access your My Disney Experience account, plus you can personalize them with colors, patterns and more!
